Garden of England Classics Wedding Car Hire has a wonderful 1960 Mercedes Ponton available for your special day. It is a superb example of the German marques upmarket saloon. Called the W120 series, it is more commonly known as the “Ponton”, which is the German name for “pontoon”.
Our Ponton was bought new in 1960 and was collected at the factory in Stuttgart in West Germany, before being driven back to the UK. It was quite the adventure and the owner will be more than happy to share it. The Mercedes has been owned by the same family since new and it is a regular sight at the Goodwood Revival.

The Ponton is an elegant motor and has the added benefit of a full Webasto Sunroof. This is a full length fabric sunroof, which opens all the way back and allows for some memorable photos of the Bride and Groom.
Powered by a 1.9ltr engine with a column change manual gearbox, the Mercedes-Benz Ponton harks back to a more relaxed era. Our car will take you on a memorable journey to your ceremony, where you will arrive in style.
The Chauffeur Driver will arrive dressed in a retro style suit that would have been appropriate to the period of the Ponton series, which adds something a little extra the the nostalgic driving experience.
The Mercedes Ponton can also be used as a second Bridesmaids car to accompany the BMW 502 V8. Let us know if you are interested in hiring more than one car.

The Mercedes Ponton is based in South London and is able to cover the capital, North Kent, Surrey and into Essex as well. It can of course travel further afield subject to distance and are happy to provide a quote.

Below are the packages we offer for both Wedding and Civil Ceremony Hire. These are our standard packages, which cover the needs for most couples. We also offer optional extras which can be bolted onto our standard packages. Every wedding is different so we can tailor our packages to your special day.

This package covers pick up at your specified location and drop off at the ceremony. The driver and the car will be available for photographs before the bride heads into the ceremony.
A £100 deposit secures the booking with the final balance due 21 days before the wedding date.

A-B Two Hour Hire

This package is the same as A-B but allows for the car and driver to wait until the end of the ceremony to allow for photos with the Bride and Groom.
A £130 deposit secures the booking with the final balance due 21 days before the wedding date.

A to B to C Hire

This is our full hire package and covers traditional length ceremonies. It includes collection of the Bride, drop off at the ceremony, photos with the car after the ceremony and then Bride and Groom drop off at the reception.
A £160 deposit secures the booking with the final balance due 21 days before the wedding date.
